Liquid Upset Outsiders In BLAST Premier World Final Openers

In the opening games of BLAST Premier World Final, Group A has seen Team Liquid show up against Outsiders with a huge upset and FaZe Clan are back to winning ways with a victory over G2 Esports.

Heading to Abu Dhabi as the reigning Major champions, Outsiders were living up to the name as the only non-partner team to have made it through to the BLAST World Final. Claiming a win on Inferno and with their own map pick ahead, it looked set to be a 2-0 for the CIS roster. Instead, Liquid came back with a vengeance on Anubis and thanks to a 1.43 rated performance from EliGE, equalled the series. It was then NAF with his own strong showing to secure Mirage and send Outsiders into the lower final in the first head-to-head since YEKINDAR’s transfer between the two teams.

FaZe Fight Back

The second game of the group saw G2 and FaZe lock horns. With history between NiKo and karrigan, there was a lot more at stake than just bragging rights in a best-of-three. A valiant effort from Twistzz wasn’t enough to stop NiKo and co. on Nuke, but a gruelling Inferno overtime went in FaZe’s favour. Ancient was FaZe’s playground to see the star-studded lineup take the win in clean 16-4 fashion.

Liquid and FaZe will now meet in the Upper Final, where a spot in the semifinal will be on the line. Outsiders and G2 will both be battling to avoid being the first teams sent home from the BLAST Premier World Final early.
