In keeping with League of Legends World Championship tradition, the Worlds 2022 schedule was confirmed during the draw show where teams learned who they would be facing at the showpiece event.


The month-long tournament is the highlight of the LoL esports calendar, with 24 top teams battling it out as they bid to lift the Summoner’s Cup along with $489,500 of the $2.25 million prize pool.


Worlds 2022 Schedule

The tournament begins on Thursday, 29 September and runs until Saturday, 5 November, when the grand final takes place. The Worlds 2022 schedule is split into three main stages - the play-ins, the groups and the knockout.


Worlds 2022 Teams And Rosters

Twenty four teams, starring the planet’s best League of Legends players will be on show at Worlds 2022, with 12 entering the play-ins stage and the remaining half of the field joining at the group stage.

Korea has the most players at Worlds 2022, with 36 due to be in action ahead of China with 17 and Taiwan and Vietnam on 10 each. Turkey will have eight players at Worlds 2022, with Brazil, Australia, Denmark and Germany each having four players in action. There are three each from Mexico, Poland and Spain and two each from Belgium, Canada, Japan and Sweden.


Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, New Zealand, Romania and USA each have one player representing.


Worlds 2022 Patch

This year’s League of Legends World Championship will be played on patch 12.18. Udyr has been disabled for the tournament as it was not playable in all top regions before the playoff stages.

Worlds 2022 Host Cities

Worlds 2022 is being held in USA and Mexico. The play-in stage will be held at the Arena Esports Stadium in Mexico City before the group stage and quarterfinals will be at Madison Square Garden in New York. Worlds semifinals will be at State Farm Arena in Atlanta before the grand finals at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
