League of Legends Patch 12.23 Seeks To Rebuild Tanks

Despite Riot recently adding in all-new Mythic items designed for tanks to League of Legends, the next update will now see buffs for the tanky champions typically found in the frontline.

Sion, Cho’Gath, Amumu, Maokai, Zac, Tahm Kench and Malphite being on the list will strike fear into many toplaner hearts. Other champions that will see buffs include Zeri, who had fallen behind as an ADC pick and in terms of winrate in recent patches and Kayn, specifically in his Shadow Assassin form as well as the Sunfire Cape item.

Ravenous Hydra Nerfed

Speaking of hearts, Heartsteel has been a controversial addition to League of Legends, being especially prominent in ARAM. Many unlikely candidates were seen rushing the item due to the significant advantages it was able to grant in the gamemode. Luckily, the item will be nerfed specifically on the Howling Abyss to try counter the growing meta. On the Rift, only Ravenous Hydra will be taking a hit in the next patch.

In the nerf corner for Patch 12.23 are Yuumi, Syndra, Mordekaiser, Shyvana, Trundle and Lillia. While Yuumi the cat is the stuff of nightmares, it is the other five champions on the list causing the most problems due to their ridiculously high winrates. Trundle is currently sitting at a 53.89% percent win rate across all ranks, with Shyvana not too far behind on 53.78%.

Jungle Updates

Adjustments are going to be seen for Kassadin and Dr Mundo, while the jungle system is also being changed. The preseason changes to the jungle have drastically reshaped the role mechanics, jungle mobs and levelling as well as introducing voting for teams to take objectives together or not so adjusting of these brand-new features was to be expected.

With just over a week to go until Patch 12.23 drops, further information about the nature of the buffs, nerfs and adjustments will be revealed soon.
