Cheltenham Day Two Tips For The 3.30 Queen Mother Champion Chase

Tips for the 3.30 Queen Mother Champion Chase on day 2 of the 2023 Cheltenham festival, with latest betting odds, runners and a Free Bet

15 Mar 2023

The highlight of Cheltenham Festival day two is the Queen Mother Champion Chase at 3.30, the feature race on Wednesday, 15 March 2023.

Midnite’s full racing offering is on its way and this week we’re giving fans the chance to bet on the key races at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, including the 3.30 on Wednesday.

The Queen Mother Champion Chase is a Grade 1 steeplechase for five-year-olds and over and was won last year by Energumene, who goes again in 2023. Jockey Paul Townend is again in the saddle looking to repeat the antics of Altior, who won this race twice in a row in 2018 and 2019.

Rachael Blackmore rides Captain Guinness, somewhat an outsider at 33/1, while the favourite is Edwardstone, ridden by Tom Cannon.

Unlike Tuesday’s Champion Hurdle, the 3.30 on day two at the festival looks to be a much more competitive affair - at least in terms of the pre-race betting.

Let’s take a look at the betting tips for the 3.30 on day two of the Cheltenham Festival - the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Midnite’s Queen Mother Champion Chase Tip

The Queen Mother Champion Chase looks a tricky affair this year.

Seven runners are due to go to post but opinion is split on who comes out on top according to the markets with little between Edwardstone and Energumene at the head of the betting.

Edwardstone won the Arkle at last year's Festival while Energumene is the reigning 2 mile Champion chaser. Punters would be foolish to write off the chances of the Gary Moore-trained Editeur Du Gite who could take advantage if the principals under perform.
