Worlds 2022 Final: Faker Fights For Four As T1 face DRX
T1 vs DRX: Faker goes in pursuit of fourth title at the LoL Worlds 2022 Finals in all-Korean showdown at the Chase Center
By Phoebe Dua
The peak of the League of Legends World Championship and the entire 2022 season will see T1 face DRX at the Chase Center in San Francisco, with one best-of-five to decide it all.
Having bested Worlds 2021 champions EDward Gaming and dashing the hopes of the West by sending Cloud9 and Fnatic home, T1 are in great form to add yet another Worlds title to their collection.
Faker's Focus On Four
It would not just be T1 as an organisation taking their fourth World Championship, League of Legends GOAT, three-time champion and the Unkillable Demon King of the LCK Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok would earn the accomplishment at the same time.
Having been with T1 for his entire career, the longest continuous tenure of any player in one single organisation, with 10 LCK titles under his belt and in a position to win Worlds again for the first time since 2016, there is good reason many will be looking at his team as the favourites heading into the final.
It is not just a one-man show on T1, with Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong and Ryu "Keria" Min-seok in the bot lane for T1 having the two top KDAs in the entire tournament. On top of this, ADC Gumayusi also has the most multikills and the best farm so far at Worlds 2022.
Deft's Date With Destiny
Their greatest challenge will likely come from DRX, with Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu looking to finally claim his first Worlds title after so many years.
The 26-year-old may have attended the same school and be the same age as Faker, but the two players have had very different stories. With Worlds attendance in five different jerseys, none has yet provided Deft with the Summoner’s Cup.
DRX themselves started their 2022 World Championship journey from the bottom, grinding from the Play-Ins to the grand final. The marathon gauntlet will be settled on Warriors Way and there could be no more fitting name for the stage of this final all-Korean brawl.
