Midnite x Sheffield United & Southampton: Fan-First Football Partnerships

Football sponsorships have gotten a bit too predictable — logos on shirts, hashtags on posts, and silence till next season. We’re not here for that. When we teamed up with Sheffield United and Southampton, we wanted to do something that actually mattered: put fans first.

Football sponsorships usually follow the same playbook: slap a logo on a shirt, post a photo, vanish till next season.

But we’re here to change the game. When we joined forces with Sheffield United and Southampton, we didn’t just want visibility — we wanted to be fan-first.

That’s why everything we’ve done so far has had one simple test: does it make life better for the fans who make the game what it is?

The Midnite Express: because away days should be fun, not expensive

Football without away fans isn’t football. So when the Saints headed north to Bramall Lane, we made sure their journey didn’t cost a fortune.

Tuesday away days are tough enough, but when it’s a 400-mile round trip? Brutal. The Midnite Express was our way of easing the burden and giving something tangible back — free coach travel for 100 fans from the south coast to Sheffield to support their team.

A small gesture, maybe, but it carried a big idea: fans shouldn’t be punished for showing up. Whether it’s a six-hour road trip or a midweek train that costs more than your season ticket, we know the grind. So we picked up the tab — no strings, no gimmicks.

And not only that, we made it a journey to remember. Saints legends, DJ sets, football quizzes and Q&As, all to create a memorable trip, no matter the result. And don’t worry, Blades fans — the Midnite Express will return for the reverse fixture in January.

Parachute Payments: keeping faith after the fall

Relegation hurts. There’s no sugar-coating that. But when Southampton dropped to the Championship, we didn’t want fans to feel like they were falling alone. So we launched Midnite Parachute Payments — £1,000 cash for Saints supporters who stuck with the club even after the drop.

No betting conditions. No hidden catches. Just real money, paid out to real fans who kept backing their team.

We dropped the cash after inviting loyal fans to watch their team train and meet the manager, with their money landing at Southampton’s Staplewood training facility by a literal parachute. Move over Wrexham, it doesn’t get much more Hollywood than that.

We did this because loyalty is the bedrock of football, and should be rewarded, not taken for granted. When the Premier League lights dim, fans are the ones who stay switched on. The least we could do was show them that someone noticed.

Brace Yourself: every home game, a chance to win

This season, we took our partnership to the stands — literally. Brace Yourself is our in-stadium giveaway for both Sheffield United and Southampton fans. At every home league game, one supporter walks away with a chance to win, no strings attached. We started at £1,000, and if it's not won? It rolls over.

It’s simple, fast, and rooted in that same principle we started with: fans first. We don’t just want to appear on your screens; we want to show up in your stands. To hear the noise, to feel the buzz, to be part of the matchday ritual — and to give something back while we’re there.

More than a logo

Midnite was built to make sports entertainment fairer, faster, and a bit more fun. But fairness doesn’t stop in the app — it should extend to the terraces too. That’s why our club partnerships are designed around real value, shared moments, and genuine fan involvement, not just advertising space.

Talking of logos, we didn’t want to be one of those brands with a big green box that hijacks your shirt. We’ve forgone our ‘brand guidelines’ to ensure our logo stays true to the design of each kit, and doesn’t get in the way of the badge.

With Sheffield United and Southampton, we’re building something that looks more like community and less like marketing. The kind of partnership that earns trust, not just impressions.

What’s next

These projects are our way of proving that fairness, speed, and fun don’t just live in the app — they belong on the terraces too.

We’ve planned more travel support. More giveaways. More reasons for fans to feel seen, not sold to.

We’ll keep listening to supporters from both clubs and finding new ways to make following your team a little easier, a little fairer, and a lot more rewarding. Because if the fans win, football wins. And that’s the only table we’re trying to top. _ Midnite is for 18+ only. Please play responsibly and visit begambleaware.org for support._
